All You Need To Know About The HEC Pakistan Commonwealth Scholarship 2024

Do you want to know about the HEC Commonwealth Scholarship 2024? The UK Commonwealth Scholarships Commission (CSC) offers the UK Government’s Commonwealth Scholarships programme, led by International Development Objectives.

Since 1960, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission has funded over 30,000 people to study in the UK to acquire knowledge, acquire skills and build networks to tackle global development challenges.

The Commonwealth Scholarships Commission (CSC) portal is open for applications until October 2023.

Who Is Eligible For Commonwealth Scholarship?

To apply for the Commonwealth scholarships, you must meet the HEC eligibility requirements in addition to the CSC requirements listed below:

  • Be a citizen of Pakistan/AJ&K, and a permanent resident of Pakistan/AJ&K. Dual nationals are not eligible.
  • For the Master’s scholarship, the applicant must hold a first-class degree in a relevant postgraduate course (16 years of Bachelor/Master) in the appropriate field of study before the closing date of the HEC application portal.
  • For the PhD scholarship, the applicant must have a first-class degree in a relevant postgraduate qualification (17/18 year Masters/MS/MPhil degree) in the appropriate field of study before the closing date of the HEC application portal.
  • The candidate must not have a second/third class in the last class/final stage. Candidates awaiting results are also not eligible to apply.
  • All applicants must provide a HAT test score. The applicant must reach a minimum score of 60 out of 100 in HAT test. Applicants who have taken the HAT test on or after January 1, 2022, can upload the test result to the HEC portal for examination.
  • Without providing a minimum HAT test score (60 out of 100) ), applications will not be processed further.

Interested applicants who have not yet taken the HAT exam can register here. ETC will accept applications for the HAT test until October 11, 2023​.

In addition to HEC Criteria, Listed Below Are CSC Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for these scholarships, you must:

  • Be a resident (permanent ) of a worthy Commonwealth country.
  • Be available to start your academic studies in the United Kingdom before the start of the United Kingdom’s academic year in September 2024.
  • The CSC would not normally fund a second United Kingdom master’s degree. If you are applying for a second Master’s in the UK, you must justify why you wish to pursue this degree.
  • Without this scholarship, you can’t afford to attend school in the United Kingdom.
  • Please provide transcripts detailing all your higher education qualifications, including up-to-date transcripts of all qualifications you are presently studying (with certified translations if not in English) uploaded to the online application system.
  • Provide references from at least two people.

Eligibility Criteria Solely For PhD candidates:

  1. DO NOT be enrolled for a PhD or an MPhil leading to a PhD at a United Kingdom university or in your home country before September/October 2024.
  2. Please provide a statement of support from a proposed UK supervisor from at least one of the institutions in your application form.

When Can I Apply For Commonwealth Scholarship 2024?

Applicants must submit applications online to the HEC and Commonwealth portals.

If the applicant fails to submit the online application forms on BOTH websites mentioned in steps (1) and step (2) below, HEC will not be able to accept their application.

Commonwealth Online Application (Step 1)

Candidates should apply through the CSC online application system listed below. Please note that he CSC cannot accept applications not submitted through the online application system or after the above deadline.

HEC Online application (Step 2)

Apply online via the HEC website. After registering and filling in your profile, select “Learning Opportunities Abroad”. After applying, get a printed copy to be signed by applicants.

The HEC online application portal will close on 18th October 2022 (04:00 Pakistan Time) Before applying, update your HEC profile with your latest email/mobile number and updated information.

It is advised that you finalise and submit your application early, as the online application system will be so busy in the days leading up to the application deadline.

NOTEApplications without submission of the Commonwealth Application Form and Online HEC Form will not be considered under any circumstances (applications submitted must also be complete in all aspects)

Save your HEC and Commonwealth online applications after successfully submitting them to the appropriate portals.

The hard copies of the HEC application form (along with relevant academic documents viz. transcripts, statement of purpose, equivalence for a foreign degree, copies of CNIC, Domicile, research plan/proposal) and submitted Commonwealth Scholarship Forms (proof of at least two references and letters of placement) may be stored for applicant’s records.

NEVER SHOULD YOU SEND HARD COPIES OF APPLICATIONS TO HEC.

NOTE:

  • HEC supports equal opportunities; Women are encouraged to apply. The nomination ratio is 50:50 (male:female).
  • The HEC online portal will be closed on the deadline, after which no more candidates can apply. In addition, incomplete (not submitted/saved) applications will NOT be accepted.
  • Please note that the HEC only supports the nomination process as the donor country makes the final selection. Furthermore, HEC accepts no financial responsibility concerning this scholarship.
  • Suppose inaccurate information is submitted at any time. In that case, HEC reserves the right to cancel and disqualify applicants for any future scholarship.
  • It is the sole responsibility of applicants to ensure that they submit their application on the Commonwealth and HEC portals before October 2023.

Is Commonwealth Scholarship 2024 Open?

Applications for the 2023-24 Commonwealth Masters Scholarships are presently open. The application deadline (including supporting documents) is October 18, 2022.
